It is that time of the year again and I am not really looking forward to it. I used to get excited about buying school supplies when I was in school. Now that I’m the one purchasing items for my children is not as fun as I remember it to be.
Every year when I get the long list of school supplies I used to run around like a chicken without head looking for every single item on the list. Some schools even specified the brand of the item they wanted. And I was not gonna be the mom who sent her kid to school with missing supplies.
It took me a couple of years to realize that not everything needs to be perfect. I also do not wait until the last minute to make our purchases. As soon as the supply list is available, we make it our goal to get it done fast. If there’s something I just can’t find I call the teacher and let her know.
As my children get older the lists get shorter. This year I will be shopping for a 7th grader and a 2nd grader. All school supplies are fairly cheap, most of the expense is in the shoes and uniforms. I have to keep in to consideration that I might have to buy more shoes and uniforms in the middle of the school year. For some reason my little one always rips her pants from the knees and wears out her shoes.
Online shopping has been very useful lately but I still take my kids to a store and let them enjoy the back to school shopping experience. I remember when my parents took me to choose my school supplies, it’s a good memory that I would love my kids to have. It sure does not last forever
I am curious to know. Do you shop for school supplies online or do you prefer the brick and mortar route?
